The gospels are Jesus's teachings to the kingdom of Isreal about the Messianic rule to come. The audience was under the law. Then the Apostle Paul addresses the church through Romans, Corinthians, Galatians, Ephesians, Phillipians, Corinthians, Thessalonians, Timothy, Titus, and Philemon. Then come letters to the Hebrew believers which are at the end of the Bible and don't apply directly to the Gentile Church. They are Hebrews addressed to the Hebrews, James (addressed to the 12 tribes), Peter who was sent by Jesus to address his flock, the Jews, John a Jew who addresses fellow Jews, Jude and Revelations. Although Revelations uses the word church, it is not addressed to the church as Paul didn't preach in Asia and was written soon after his death and is an address to the Jews. If you ignore the fact that Jesus was sent to dispense the Gospel to the Jews you will be hopelessly confused about the Bible and having a mixed up perspective with contradictory scriptures that can't be reconciled as truthful and a warped view of grace. Case in point: Are our works filthy rags or is faith without works dead? Or is it that all will be raptured with the dead in Christ first, or will there be a selection process as seen in Revelations with some waiting 1,000 years? Either my revelation about the audiences is correct and the ordering of the books of the Bible is an act of God, or the Bible is filled with lies and not worth the effort to study. The rapture happens before tribulation which is plainly described in the letters to the churches. Have fun with your doomsday paranoia.Charles Tarrhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08114311744637467013noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1559976154778960746.post-63192963203406183672013-11-11T04:50:19.718-08:002013-11-11T04:50:19.718-08:00Rightly dividing the "word of truth" mea...Rightly dividing the "word of truth" means one has to know who is being spoken to in scripture. I have no problem with Noe differing with his preterist brethren. However, he did far more than that when he laid the blame of the Church's recent malaise on our denial that the miraculous first century sign gifts are fully operational today. Rarely do I react emotionally, but this is just plain ridiculous.

Noe ought to be fully aware that the Church's most significant problem over the past 100 years has been the rise of dispensationalism. It has unwittingly assaulted the credibility of the Bible, has distorted the Kingdom composition (presuming two separate lineages of God - one earthly through fleshly Israel and one heavenly through the Church) and has preached an anemic Gospel destined to fail against the forces of darkness.

It is this rapture mentality that is the main scourge of the Church. Listen, Noe can argue that the gifts are for today all he wants but in what I have come to except as his usual divisive rhetoric, he is doing more harm than good.

The Kingdom of God is spiritual. Period.

John 18:36 (NASB) Jesus answered, "My kingdom is not of this world. If My kingdom were of this world, then My servants would be fighting so that I would not be handed over to the Jews; but as it is, My kingdom is not of this realm."

John 4:23-24 (NASB)"But an hour is coming, and now is, when the true worshipers will worship the Father in spirit and truth; for such people the Father seeks to be His worshipers. 24 "God is spirit, and those who worship Him must worship in spirit and truth."

Now, does the spiritual Kingdom have ramifications in the here and now? Absolutely! The Bible is clear. We are to reform the nations with the Gospel of Christ. We are the salt of the EARTH and the lights of the WORLD. Yes, we should be actively working to be faithful stewards of that which has been given but that doesn't mean that the Kingdom of God is of fleshly origin. The Spiritual informs and reforms the physical. First comes the physical (type) and then the Spiritual (anti-type).

For me, one of the main draws of preterism, other than the fact that it made sense, was the fact that the ship (earth) is NOT destined to sink...that it has not been preordained that the Gospel will fail. To the degree that we honor Christ, the New Heavenly Jerusalem (which is not a physical kingdom) will prosper. Hal Lindsey's "The Last Great Planet Earth" (which was the first Christian book I ever read) IS the problem...not preterists who disavow the sign gifts.

Thanks for posting this guys and thanks to Sullivan for taking the time to share his thoughts.Chuckhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14438785567595098665noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1559976154778960746.post-14326734757682906002010-02-15T09:46:07.319-08:002010-02-15T09:46:07.319-08:00That's true what you say, but this article is ...That's true what you say, but this article is referring specifically to recent converts to Christianity from Judaism.Jesse Ahmannhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/16314968413461840585noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1559976154778960746.post-41679144692692466382010-02-13T14:27:31.321-08:002010-02-13T14:27:31.321-08:00Quote: “The Jewish Christians were astonished, the...Quote: “The Jewish Christians were astonished, they couldn't believe th”

(le-havdil), A logical analysis (found here: www.netzarim.co.il (that is the only legitimate Netzarim)) of all extant source documents and archeology proves that the historical Ribi Yehosuha ha-Mashiakh (the Messiah) from Nazareth and his talmidim (apprentice-students), called the Netzarim, taught and lived Torah all of their lives; and that Netzarim and Christianity were always antithetical.

Judaism and Christianity have always been two antithetical religions, and thus the term “Jewish Christianity” is an oxymoron.Anders Branderudhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/12590420531095058999noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1559976154778960746.post-40737745878907270082010-02-09T06:08:24.186-08:002010-02-09T06:08:24.186-08:00This comment has been removed by a blog administrator.台灣https://www.blogger.com/profile/16595299018227840150noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1559976154778960746.post-54869446110050799032010-01-19T05:47:26.022-08:002010-01-19T05:47:26.022-08:00This comment has been removed by a blog administrator.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1559976154778960746.post-73968132265680315242009-11-15T11:57:36.444-08:002009-11-15T11:57:36.444-08:00You may be rattled when you hear that the famous L...You may be rattled when you hear that the famous London preacher Edward Irving and his group taught imminent pretrib rapturism and even dispensationalism before Darby did! Because this is true, many prophecy texts when "studied," go completely "unstudied," as words are sloppily overlooked and unconsciously read into passages to substantiate previously formulated doctrines and beliefs. We must also realize that what people believe today wasn’t always the major mindset.”

“As one can easily see, they originally understood rightly that the time of fulfillment was to be imminent until the middle of the second century when they began to abandon that and suggest the delay/ postponement ideas. When the remaining fulfillment's associated with Christ's parousia did not occur in the physical-literal way they had expected, they assumed they had not been fulfilled at all. The same problem persists today, and can be solved by following correct Biblical interpretation methods.”

On the subject of the end times, the similarities between Islam and Christianity is noted. I cannot account for the Islamic view, but I have noticed in a typical Christian gathering there are many different views and understandings of the “end times.” It’s because the interpretation has devolved into a quagmire of misunderstanding. According to this article this may have begun in the “middle of the second century when the Shepherd of Hermas thinks he has found a solution and expresses it with great thoroughness and emphaisi: the Parousia-the Lord's return-has been postponed for the sake of Christians them selves.”

Where are all the theologians, pastors, scholars, and learned men who SHOULD understand this dilemma we find ourselves in today? It appears we are in a steamroller toward destruction because of “previously formulated doctrines and beliefs.”

I am thankful for this small group of believers who is pursuing the truth even if it is extremely controversial to the mainstream Christian mindset of today.Pure Prairie Soaphttps://www.blogger.com/profile/16721344077957294810noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1559976154778960746.post-72901965594945684862009-10-19T12:44:22.453-07:002009-10-19T12:44:22.453-07:00mmm...no matter what I do, the article repeats its...mmm...no matter what I do, the article repeats itself.Jesse Ahmannhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/16314968413461840585noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1559976154778960746.post-70383371159815739892009-10-19T08:42:24.009-07:002009-10-19T08:42:24.009-07:00Great Article. For what was considered a large civilization in post flood days may not be the same during the days of Ninevah (Jonah) or Babylon
(Daniel) A civilizaton of 60,000 people is definitely possible within 300 years especially if it comes from at least three families not one (Shem, Ham, Japheth). Full scale immigration and emigration did not have to take place until the tower of Babel (due to the confusion of languages). We do see the beginning of migration patterns in Genesis 11:2 where the text says that they journedy from the east and they found a plain in the land of Shinar and they dwelt there. So we are back to gain the chronology after the flood. When did this migration take place (to the land of Shinar)? I am suggesting that it took place at least 200 years after the flood. Then the events of Babel took place around 300 years after the flood. We cannot be dogmatic about this. It would have helped if Genesis 10 had give us the life spans of the sons of Japheth and Ham. But the Lord thought otherwise.

Enjoyed my time with you last weekPascal's Penseshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/04619315995993507561noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1559976154778960746.post-11648916148750056272009-03-30T06:50:00.000-07:002009-03-30T06:50:00.000-07:00Your growth rate scenario at the end of your post ...Your growth rate scenario at the end of your post is flawed.
